The proposed Illustrative Framework Masterplan has been guided by the design parameters of the Wychavon Town Supplementary Planning Document, produced by Wychavon Council.

The proposed development will comprise as follows:

  • Up to 250 high quality low carbon homes providing a mix of smaller and larger family homes, including homes that are genuinely affordable.

  • Publicly accessible green open spaces will complement a network of direct, safe and accessible pedestrian and cycle links to Worcestershire Parkway Station, the proposed Wychavon town centre and adjacent neighbourhoods.

  • Delivering a dedicated bus route as part of wider bus prioritisation across Wychavon Town

  • Existing vegetation will largely be retained, providing new landscaping and ecological enhancements, including 10% Biodiversity Net Gain

  • Surface water will be managed through a sustainable drainage system, delivering further ecological and water quality benefits across the site.

Alongside the delivery of new homes, proposed green space and sustainable travel links, the development will contribute positively to new infrastructure delivery as part of Wychavon Town, for the benefit of both existing and future residents

Careful consideration has been given to the proposed development, having particular regard to the principles of connectivity with the wider Southern Neighbourhood, railway station and new town centre, as well as high quality placemaking and alignment identified within the draft Wychavon Town SPD.  Alongside this, physical and environmental considerations have informed the proposed development, with a suite of technical reports, having regard to matters of topography, landscape, highways ecology, flooding and noise.

The Site will be directly accessed from the B4084 with the primary access road through the Site facilitating future access to the Southern Neighbourhood (also known as Abbotswood Ridge), with a proposed bus priority route and active travel corridors providing attractive pedestrian/cycle links.

The development whilst urban in character to reflect its edge of town centre location, including a mix of higher and medium density development, incorporates a carefully considered blue and green infrastructure strategy, with public open space to the north and west of the Site alongside an integrated drainage attenuation strategy and carefully considered ecological mitigation and enhancement proposals.
